Can Dad jeans make you more productive?
Steve Jobs famously had a work uniform.
We’ve all see him in his roll-neck sweater and Dad jeans at nearly every keynote.
Back when we used to get dressed to go to the office, I’m sure you had a uniform too.
Then lockdown happened.
Work attire gave way to sweatpants, leggings and hoodies.
And I bet your productivity tanked too.
Clothing has a massive effect on your psychology.
Alexander McQueen famously said, “I want to empower women. I want people to be afraid of the women I dress.”
It is true for all humans.
We show something about ourselves to others in the way we dress.
We also signal to ourselves about who we are too.
Don’t just take my word for it.
Jesse Itzler says that getting dressed on a morning is one is his non-negotiables.
He lived with a Goddamn Navy SEAL, so he knows his sh!t.
Getting dressed to “go to work” primes you to ready yourself for your workday and any challenges that occur.
It’s hard to act like a leader when you’re lounging in your PJs or sweatpants.
