Imposter Syndrome — Don’t beat it, master it.

Imposter Syndrome is a b!tch. It NEVER disappears.

So how you do master it?

It’s only four steps.

And it’s not what you think…

Imposter Syndrome is a feeling that you don’t belong. When I learned that everyone feels this way, I wanted to know how they beat it no matter how accomplished they were.

Mastering Imposter Syndrome is mastering yourself and the pesky thoughts and feelings that want to keep you safe.

HOW DO YOU BEAT IT?

Create a ritual before you do your thing.

It’s what Tony Robbins calls “getting into state” — changing your physiology to pump you up into taking action. For example, when I sit down to write, I feel like my ideas aren’t valuable, so I get into state to beat this feeling. Music, caffeine, sitting at my deck, hiding my phone are all primers to get into state to write.

Ask yourself “who do I need to become to do this?” then act as if.

Maxwell Maltz discovered Psycho-Cybernetics in the 1960s. Maltz found that ‘acting as if’ you are already the person who does the thing, it makes you do the thing!

Focus on the NEXT step, not the whole staircase.
