Knowing when to rest is an underrated superpower
Habit change is a mind and body fuck.
You’re relying on changing your actions, environment and mindset.
Each one of those is difficult on their own. Together, you have a recipe for failure.
Willpower alone won't carry you through.
Day 1 and 2 are going to be a breeze.
Day 3, no matter what you are trying to change, is the killer day of reckoning.
What do you do?
Power through and hate the thing you’re trying to change.
Or take a pause to come back stronger the next day.
We don’t have to do it every day for it to become a habit.
Instead, we get to rest, recalibrate and carry on the day after.
Too much pressure is put on us to be consistent.
“I did a 10km run every day this year.”
“Cool story, bro.” *eye roll emoji*
We’re not robots!
Instead, consistency is more powerful when we reframed it as momentum.
Momentum is continuing after a pause or a setback.
Knowing when to press on and knowing when to rest is a superpower we ignore.
We want the glory of doing something every day.
Daily tick in the box = Ego and hating life
Resting = Wisdom and momentum
